FUN WITH FRIENDS

Just a few fun friend events...

I finally got to go to a class where you drink and paint. It was so much fun! I was really nervous about it, but I think it turned out pretty good. Next time, I will def. have a pre-painting drink before I go, because once I started I was really too focused to even think about drinking.

Not too shabby

We also went bowling with Andrew's coworkers. I am always really terrible the first game and tend to stop caring and do really well the second game.

And just this weekend, we celebrated Jenny's birthday! Happy birthday, lady!

Three in a hat!

We have a few more friend things coming up, and I am pretty excited to see everyone.

STANLEY STAY

Last weekend, Andrew and I took a short trip to Colorado. It all started a few months ago when I came home from work, and Andrew asked if we could go to CO for a Murder by Death concert at the Stanley Hotel. It didn't take me long before I said YES!

We were able to score some pretty cheap flights and a car rental, and we headed there on Friday afternoon. That night, we hung out with Aunt Jody and Uncle Dee. I mean, would it really be a trip to Colorado if we didn't stop to see them! They took us to the most amazing restaurant in Denver (for the life of me, I cannot remember what it is called! - Jody, Dee - Help me out!) Our food coma quickly brought an end to our evening.

Oskar Blues

Saturday, we headed for the hills to check into our super cool hotel - the Stanley Hotel, explore Estes Park, and relax with some beverages! Sounds like the perfect kind of day to me.

And we ended it with the most amazing Murder by Death show. It was great, and I'm so glad Andrew talked me into it :)

If you look really hard, you can spot Andrew in the back right.

I have to say, I love it more and more ever time we go. Until next time, CO! Later, gator.

A FEW OF MY FAV THINGS - 2013 EDITION

Now that's it's officially 2014, I thought it might be fun to look back our my favorite moments of 2013. I plan to make us a "yearbook" of the year, and this will be a good way to get me started thinking about it.

NEW ADDITION

Andrew and I did something a couple of weeks that I didn't plan on doing for really long time...

Before...

We bought a new coffee table. Yes, we have needed a new coffee table, but I have NEVER bought a new piece of furniture before. I have always been a fan of craigslist, thrift stores, and hand-me-downs. All of the furniture in our house is from one of these three places.

Coffee table at NFM!

We headed on NFM and started looking around. I wasn't really impressed with anything until I saw the "one." After we sat down to take a look at it, I realized we were sitting in our living room. It had a blue lazy boy couch and lime green accents, what!?! It was a sign. We flagged down the saleswoman and made our big purchase.

This was a really big deal for me, and I'm glad that we did it. I hope it doesn't give me a urge to redo our whole living room!

ps. No after pic of our living room because I can't get a picture good enough to do it justice. Just imagine... It's beautiful!

PEACE AND QUIET

Our house has been extra quiet lately, and I forgot how relaxing that could be. About a month ago, I decided that we needed to take a serious break from our dog sitting business. I felt like we were neglecting our own pets in order to care for other people's pets. It just wasn't fair...

Since our last dog went home on January 7, the cats have reclaimed their main floor territory and Coby has been a lot less desperate for attention.

I'm really glad that we did dog sit for awhile, but I'm also really glad it's over.

COBY'S GIRLFRIEND

I was really excited when Andrew's aunt and uncle from Colorado came to visit in November. I was even more excited when I realized how in love Coby was with their yellow lab, Tully. I have never seen him play this much with ANY other dog. They were chasing each other, play bowing, and almost bouncing off the walls. This was so surprising because we watch so many dogs, and he is polite and plays a little bit. But it was different with Tully. I'm sad we didn't get more videos of them together, but I'm already looking forward to the next time we can get them together!

Of course our dog is very disobedient in this video. He has no self control around food. Work in progress!

JANUARY 2014 UPDATE

Flater Thanksgiving 2013

Reading: I just finished Ender's Game. It's took me longer than I would have liked, but I thought it was pretty good. Andrew has been thinking about getting a Kindle for us. I think I still might prefer a book with pages and a cover, but I'm not opposed to giving it a try. Any thoughts?

Watching: Rehab Addict on DIY Network has given me unrealistic expectations of how quickly one can finish any project, and I can't stop watching it. I have also been helping Andrew get caught up on Downton Abbey. It's about time!

Listening to: Nothing new unfortunately. I did get the "Girls" soundtrack vinyl album for Christmas! So that's awesome!

Thinking about: How lonely it can be when Andrew is working nights. I think this has been a lot harder for me than I have let on. Sundays are especially hard because I'm alone for most of the day. There isn't work to distract me, and I'm usually just waiting around for Andrew to wake up so we can hang out before he goes to work. I'm going to try to makes some changes by hanging out with friends and doing projects. I also need to change my attitude about it and look at it in a positive light. I'm working on it...

Loving: My new job. I love the people I work with, I love the difference I'm making, and I love how much I am learning and growing personally and professionally. I have been so blessed, and I'm glad that God has led me to this place.

Looking forward to: Andrew and I wrote out our trips we have planned for the year so far. Colorado, Packers game, visiting family and friends, etc, and I'm looking forward to all of it! I'm even planning something special for Andrew and I on our anniversary weekend in September.

Making me happy: Being around Mason makes me so happy! He is just the best and makes me smile. I love seeing him learn new things and become his own person. He is growing up so fast!
