COOKIE WIN!

Who doesn't love snail mail? Who doesn't love Girl Scout Cookies? Another thing I love? Reddit! For bringing it all together!

A couple of months ago, I really wanted to get my hands on some Thank U Berry Munch. They had these cookies out last year but not in our area. When I found out they had them again this year, I was determined to get my hands on some! I did some research, and I also found Savannah Smiles and Dulce de Leche cookies are sold in other parts of the US.

Around this time, Andrew also was in the process of getting me addicted to Reddit. That's when I found the snack exchange subreddit! Whoop! I put out a post and got a response. A wonderful lady in Texas was willing to get three boxes of cookies that I can't get here in exchange for three boxes of cookies that she couldn't get there. Match made in heaven! Once she got my cookies in her hands, she sent them off! And in a just a few days, I got them in my hands.

Success! I def. hope I can do something like this again next year. Thank you internet!

I'M OLD NOW

I'm such a slacker. My birthday was over a week ago, and I still haven't done a post on it. Here is my birthday review! I woke up earlier than I would have liked. I was planning on sleeping in, but I rolled with the punches and got my lazy butt out of bed and went to the gym. It was wonderful! There were very few people there and I didn't feel like i was being rushed. Great way to start the day.

Andrew woke up "early" for us to go to lunch. I was supposed to pick the place, and the only thing I wanted was a grilled cheese. We went to B&G Tasty Food, and I was presently surprised. This might be my new place for work lunches to go. Fast, cheap, and tasty. Win, win, win.

After that, Andrew had a surprise for me! Cupcake Island cupcakes! He is too good! They were fantastic. Omg. I want one right now. Then we opened presents! I saved all of my cards for my big day so it was fun to have a lot to open. I saved Andrew's for last and of course it was the best. Jewelry!

I love pearls and he chose something so classic. I love it! I am saving the bracelet and the necklace for special occasions but I wear the earrings all the time. After gifts, I was exhausted and because it was my bday, I took a nap.

Infinium champagne beer. Worth every penny!

After I woke up, we popped some bubbly and got ready for dinner.

We met up with some hometown friends for a feast at La Casa. I didn't like the service (we were there for over 2 hours...) but the food was great! I was so glad that they were all able to come out.

Then Andrew and I said goodbye so we could head to the Waiting Room to rock out to some Leslie and the Lys! We met up with some other friends, rocked out in our custom gem sweaters, and had a great time! And guess what?! More gifts! Andrew got me a shirt and a record. I even got Leslie to sign it. What a great end to a great bday!

SPRING IS IN THE AIR

I have a dream! I dream to live in a world were everyone knows how to fold a fitted sheet.

Well I guess the rain is bringing out the spring cleaning bug. I got an urge to organize our linens the other night. Note that I did not say linen closet. That is a different story.

Yikes!

Oh man! I should have taken a before picture. I blame my mom for my linen organization obsession. All of the towels have to be folded into thirds. Is anyone else as crazy as I am about these little things?

When do you start your spring cleaning? Any weird cleaning rules?

DO MORE

Because pics of cats always make me feel better.

Today, I am filled with the sense that I can do better. I can do more for other people. I can be nicer and more thoughtful. I can care well for others if I just try a little harder.

This morning before I went to work, I read an article in the paper about a young, newly married couple in Omaha that was adopting a 14-year-old girl that was abandoned when the safe haven law was in place. The girl has had a rough life. From her childhood, to the foster home, and more. Her new parents are my age, 26 & 27.

Today in our staff meeting, my supervisor gave a devotional that focused on carrying others burdens. With this he gave us all a coin that he had collected from a place that he has traveled during his time in the service. He wanted to let us know that he is committed to us, and he wants us to succeed. He is always so selfless and kind.

What am I doing to make this world a better place? How can I make a difference? What can I do to support others and make their lives a little easier?

I was just having a rough day... I think that if I just make the extra effort I can make not only my day but someone else's day better too. Just something to think about...

SOCKS

Lately, I have been catching a lot of flack for my nighttime outfit. It always consists of pajama capris/shorts and tall, white athletic socks. And it is sooooo darn sexy! I think they are just haters. So jealous! Right? Who wouldn't be?

+

I recently saw this comic online, and I knew it was made just for me and my hot outfit.

Andrew keeps trying to get me give up the white socks. I say, "NEVER!" Who would even think of such a thing?!? I have yet to find socks as comfy as my cheap white socks. I wonder if Andrew knew what he was getting into when he married me... Oh well, too late!

Is your nighttime outfit as disgraceful as mine?

VALENTINE'S DAY

I may feel like crap today, but I'm not going to let it stop me from celebrating Valentine's day! My stomach hurts, I have been up since 4:30 am, and the thought of food is disgusting. But the day wasn't a total disaster.

Andrew woke me up to give me my Valentine's day gift - roses! I have never gotten pink roses before. He is so cute and thoughtful. I also got flowers from my coworker Jenny. Just what I needed to brighten my day!

This morning my coworker, Jenny, and I also exchanged gifts because no one else wanted to join in our valentine's day fun! Party poopers. She got me this super cute scarf and lotion from Bath and Body Works, and I hooked her up with some Mocha Via Ready Brew from Starbucks and a new cute notepad.

I made it through half a day at work!

Although everyone was really sweet to me, I feel like a terrible Valentine for Andrew. I was going to pick up his gift today, but that changed after my temp thought it would be a good idea to creep up. No bueno! Maybe I can make up for it this weekend. But right now, I feel like sleep is calling my name.

What did you get/do for Valentine's day?

5 THINGS I LOVE RIGHT NOW

1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5

1. Colored pants - Skinny jeans. Cords. Slacks. I'll take 'em all!

2. Mail apps - You mean I can send an actual postcard with one of my pictures on it from my phone? Awesome!

3. Baseball - After watching Moneyball, I frequently find myself counting down the days until the start of the season.

4. Reddit.com - I can admit that I used to not like this place, but I have come to learn that it is pretty amazing. The stories are funny/informative/interesting and the people are great.

5. Essie nail polish - I got my first bottle (Andrew's treat) a few weeks ago. The colors are great and it last forever!

BIRTHDAY PIZZA

Guess what? Guess what? Guess what? It's my birthday! well, almost... In case you didn't know, I'm pretty excited. Andrew even said the sweetest thing to me on January 31, "In a few hours, it will be your birthday month!" He knows me well.

I used to tell my grandpa when I was little that my birthday was after the new calendars came out. Smart kid! Well the new calendars are out, they have been flipped to the second month of the year, and it is time to celebrate. Someone get me a cupcake!

Thursday night, we had our first birthday date. I can call it that because, thanks to Old Chicago, we enjoyed a free medium pizza because I was born. Then I took him to see On Golden Pond at the Omaha Community Playhouse, and I didn't even make him pay! What a generous birthday girl am I?

This weekend, I will be making plans for the next couple of weeks to celebrate 26 years of making this world a better place.

Here's a little hint! 1 - 2 - 3

How did you celebrate your last birthday?
