Our first 2013 La Folie! |
A few days before my birthday, I made a list of everything that I wanted to do over the weekend. This is a list of things that make me happy, and doing them with Andrew makes it all the sweeter. Some things on the list included: do a puzzle, get coffee, shop at NFM, pet the animals at the Humane Society, read, go to a movie, get a tattoo, and go on a walk. We did quite a few things on the list on Saturday. Some of them were let downs (There were so few animals at the Humane Society that they didn't have the cat room open! Good for them, bad for me.) others were awesome (Howlin' Hounds Coffee & NFM). And yet others, just didn't happen (umm... tattoo).
Bomb sandwich we made on Saturday. Nom! |
Sunday, my actual birthday, was a very emotional day for me. The day didn't start off great when I realized we had left my keys in Andrew's car that was parked three miles away (We were responsible and had my sisters drive us to Taco Bell and then home on Saturday night. It was beer week... give us a break!). Luckily, my bro and SIL saved the day, but I still missed church...
Also, I think Andrew's schedule just really started to wear me down. I spent a lot of the day alone, and that's just a bummer on your birthday.
Andrew did manage to get me a crazy awesome gift; tickets to Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros' concert at Red Rocks in June. What!? So that is going to be awesome! Also, he made me homemade mac n' cheese. And who doesn't love mac n' cheese?!?
The birthday week continued on Thursday when we braved some crazy weather to go to a New Belgium dinner hosted by Lot2 in Benson. Oh my! It was so delicious. 10/10 - would definitely do it again.
Overall, I would say it was a good birthday. Nothing great or spectacular (ask me again after the concert and I might have a different answer). I think it's a lot of my own fault. I get so excited for my birthday and always hope for fun and wonderful things. I think next year I will have no expectations or plan and just go about my day and hope that it is wonderful along the way.
